See what happens? A story, just for you, here.
About to do it all again. What? Make excuses for being late, of course. Why? This time around, I think I may have found a person who can help me do a cover. This is exciting news, but it puts the brakes on again. Which is probably a good thing. The last three weeks have … Continue reading I’m Late, I’m Late, I’m …
Does this post contain spoilers? I'm not sure, but if you don't want to read about Game of Thrones or the ending or what it's all about, don't read. Warning complete. I'm going to name the underlying arc everyone seems to have missed: The Double-Edged Sword of Family Politics There, that's what it's all about. … Continue reading GoT – My View of it All
Part 1 here. The suit he flicked at her opened up to ten separate pieces. “Where was it?” she asked and pulled it open. What went where? “I’m still covered in gunk,” she said. “It may help if …” He didn’t finish. His jerky movements sped up as he tried the pieces of the suit … Continue reading A Short Story, Part 2 (SF)
Take 2: Goldilocks #716 “There should be mention of the headaches.” Shera held her head in both hands. She didn’t want to follow the blaring instruction to swing her legs off the table. She didn’t want to breathe. It hurt too much. Swirls of pain gripped her head like clamps with extra-deep probes. She remained … Continue reading A Short Story, Part 1 – SF
If these rules are good enough for Elmore Leonard, they should be good enough for me … but I might have to pin them on the computer, just in case
I’m pretty sure I’ve broken a few of these rules, especially in the story about the- ooooh nope, nope, nope, I’m not telling that one yet. But if I find the handwritten pages, and get them typed up, I’ll share snippets. 🙂
Hope you enjoy!
I never do these award thingies, but for some reason when I saw this one on Cactus, I wondered, and wondered, and wondered. And then I decided to sit down and do a few sentences, maybe not the whole blurble of it, and I'm not going to 'nominate' people (you can do it, you can, … Continue reading Versatile? I wonder …
I'd like to point everyone to another incident where a company has placed a bar on the use of a word when that word has been in common usage throughout the world for longer than man has been wearing sheepskin boots. Have a look here (especially this bit: Deckers use the brand name UGG Australia, … Continue reading An Ugg-ly Battle – Again
Do you play on the dark side? Like a bit of suspense in your tales? There's a new story, a short one (novella, that's about as short as my stories get) that got a bit of attention from a publisher, but ultimately rejected. Which means I may have a new story for you by the … Continue reading Tacking into the Dark Side
What do you think? I tend to agree to the cyclic changes, but I’m looking at block-chain technology to ensure ‘ownership’ – in publishing … we have a long way to go, it seems
I’ve been taking in what authors have been discussing in author groups and speaking privately with a couple of author friends. My gut feeling has been telling me that I better make plans on what I should do when self-publishing is no longer the best venue for publishing. I wish I could dig up a comment someone had made back in 2010 about trends in publishing because what he said seems to be playing out in front of me. But one thing he said was that self-publishing would take off for a while, and then there would be a point where it went into decline. From the decline would come the resurgence of traditional publishers.
I have to admit, I thought that guy had a gloomy outlook on things at the time. Nevertheless, his words had stuck with me over the years, and the more I look around at what’s…
